One Year Out and Loving It

So today it has officially been one year since my weight loss surgery. The last year has been a challenge and I have been through a lot of changes, some related to my surgery and some not, but I am still here and stronger than ever. I haven't been losing much lately. I think I am eating more in a maintenance way then losing and I would like to get back to losing. I am not at goal yet but have been rethinking my goal as I am happy with my size right now and just want to focus on toning. I am still considered overweight by BMI standards but if I lose the 16 pounds needed to get to overweight I think it may be too much.

So here are my stats after a year:

                        Start                Today              Difference

Weight             264                  156.8               107.2
BMI                46.1                 27.54               18.6
Waist               47.5                 35                    12.5
Neck                15.5                 13.3                 2
Bicep               17                    12                    5 Each
Forearm           12                    9.5                   2.5 Each
Chest               48                    39.5                 8.5
Hip                  55                    38.5                 16.5
Thigh               30                    21                    9 Each
Calf                 20                    15.5                 4.5 Each

So total I lost 81.5 inches off my body which is over 6 ½ feet. My BMI went from Extremely Morbidly Obese to Overweight.

Roller Derby!!!

So with all the changes to my body I am finding all these new things that I want to do. My newest hobby is Roller Derby. I have only been to one practice and need lots of work before I can actually play on a team but it is a lot of fun and great exercise. Last night my sister, who I have also roped into this endeavor, and I went and watch the double header in Coeur d' Alene. It was so much fun. Jay was not completely behind my decision to join until he watched last night. Now he understands!!!!!

So as of today I am 179.5. Don't even remember the last time I was in the 170's. Feels good and I am starting to feel the muscle tone from all the exercise I am doing. One downside to all the weight loss is apparently no one noticed how short I was before cause all I here now is I am so little or I look like I am shrinking. I have always been 5'3" but I acted bigger before I guess. My Aunt Theresa told me yesterday my aura must be shrinking lol. I think I just acted like I was bigger before to try and make up for my weight.

1st practice. Not sure what the look on my face is about.

On my way to watch roller derby. Yep I'm rocking a faux hawk!

Love my shoes!!!

05/01/2011

The last two weeks I have been trying to break the 190 barrier. Today I finally hit 189.2. So excited and feel like I am getting closer and closer to my goal. The last time I remember being truly comfortable with my size I was 180, so looking forward to that. I also realized today that in the last 5 weeks I have lost 10 pounds and that is so amazing. Later this month it will have been 6 months since my surgery and I can't believe how much has happened since then.

Though sometimes it is hard having this surgery is still the best decision I ever made for myself.

5 Month Update 04/19/2011

So last Friday was my 5 month anniversary of my surgery and I was down 73.7  pounds. I often feel like I am losing too slow and that I have had an abnormal amount of stalls. I decided to break down my loss by months so I can see how I am doing this is what I found. I am 5'3" and weighed 264 before surgery. I had my VSG on 11/15/2011.

November I lost 22.6 pounds
December 14.3 pounds
January 6.1 pounds
February 13.7 pounds
March 11 pounds
April down 6.6 so far

I am averaging 3.35 pounds a week.

Looking at this I guess I should quit worrying about stalls. Feeling really good. I work out about 5 days a week, try to take my vitamins every day, and just enjoy being alive.

Onederland!!!!!!!!!! 03/24/2011

Wow! Never thought I would get here. 199.8 as of this morning. I don’t normally weigh in on Thursday but have a semi-formal banquet to go to tonight with my honey and my goal was to be under 200 before I slipped into my new dress. I made it!!!! I don’t think I have been under 200 in probably 14 years, since I was 21. I still have a long way to go but am glad the scale is moving again.

Since my surgery on 11/15/2010 I have lost 65 pounds and my bmi has gone from 46.8, which is morbidly obese, to 35.4, which is obese. Can’t wait to get to “overweight” which is my next big goal.

I will post pictures from tonight’s banquet soon.

Half Way There 03/13/2011

As of today I am finally over half way to my goal. I have actually lost more weight than I have left to lose. What a great feeling. I am also only 1.5 pounds from Onederland.
In a week and a half I have to go to a fancy dinner with my boyfriend for his work so yesterday I went shopping. I was actually able to walk into JcPenney and buy a size L dress of the rack and have it fit. It is so cute to. I got some really sexy heels which are a ½ size smaller than what I was wearing before and I no longer need wides. I can’t believe how much everything has changed in less than 4 months. I will post pics in the dress after the banquet.
I have been working out three to five days a week including a modern dance class and a Zumba class. Monday my sister and I are starting a 6 week belly dancing class. Having so much fun with the new body and energy.

3 month blood work (a little late)

So yesterday I finally had my family doctor run my 3 month blood work, only a couple of weeks late. He was not even aware I had the surgery until yesterday. Blood work results came back perfect today and doctor said everything looks good. I am down 60 pounds and feeling great. Next week is my 4 month surgiversary and hoping to lose the last 4 pounds to get under 200. That would be amazing.

Yesterday I bought one pair of size 14 jeans, one pair of 33 x 31 jeans, a juniors x-large shirt, and a size 14 one piece swimsuit at goodwill. Got home and everything fit. Actually need a belt with the 33 jeans. The swimsuit is a little snug but should fit soon. What an amazing feeling.

I will post some new pics next week.

Oh and in case I didn't already mention it last week was also the 18 month anniversary of quitting smoking.

Surgery Weight 264
Todays Weight 204.6

03/05/2011 Almost to my 1st Goal

As of today I weight 205 pounds. Can't believe I am almost out of the 200's and I don't plan on ever seeing them again. Hopefully I will be there by my 4 month surgiversary in 10 days.

Yesterday was also the 18 month anniversary of me quitting smoking. I am just getting way to healthy :) Hope to be a good influence on my kids to not wait as long as I did to get healthy.

I am going to the club at least 3 times a week if not more and dragging my sister along with me. We have a great time going to classes together and are even learning a little belly dancing :)

Overall I am very happy with my sleeve and think I made the right decision. Sometimes it seems to move slower than I would like but patience has never been my strong point.

12 Week Pics

So today it has been 12 weeks since my surgery and I am down 50 pounds. Very excited especially after I took some updated pics. The quality isn't great but the difference is noticeable. Wearing the exact same clothes, but don't think they will fit much longer.

Home After a Long Three Weeks 02/05/2011

Well I haven't posted anything in 3 weeks because I have been at P.O.S.T. Attending the 1st Adult Misdemeanor Probation Academy. It was really a great experience and I met some awesome people. I also tried to think more about my health while I was there. The first week I worked out every morning for voluntary PT. It was great to try some different stuff. Only lost 1.5 pounds that week. 2nd week I missed two days of PT and lost nothing. Week 3 no PT because we had early morning classes everyday but lost 3.7 pounds. Hope I can keep up a more diverse work out routine now that I am home. Weight loss is going slower than I had hoped but at least it is going.

40 Pounds

As of today I have lost a little over 40 pounds. That is such an awesome feeling. I will never see those numbers again. I can't believe that my goal of being under 200 pounds is actually coming into view. It has been 8 weeks since my surgery and I am feeling great. Averaging 5 pounds a week which is awesome and more than I could ever of hoped for. I bought a pair of size 16 pants yesterday and pulled them on without a problem. That motivated me to get rid of a bunch of pants in my closet that I haven't worn forever and now will never fit again. WooHoo!!!

Sunday I leave for the police academy in Boise for 3 weeks of probation officer training. I will be flying home for the weekends but I am really going to concentrate on myself while I am there and take full advantage of the gym. Hope to be under 200 by the time it is over.

I am also now officially obese instead of morbidly obese with a BMI of 39.57. Overweight here I come.

01/07/2011 Scale is finally moving again!

While after what seemed like the longest stall every the scale is moving again. Over the last few weeks I have either not lost anything or actually gained a few ounces at a time. I have kept trying to eat right and work out and just wait it out. My clothes really feel different now and I don't think I will be able to keep wearing my favorite jeans much longer. Even my workout clothes are getting too big.

I leave on 01/16 for three weeks in Boise for training and am really going to try and focus on eating and exercising while I am there. It is at the police academy so there is a full gym and pool. I will be coming home on the weekends and only doing weigh ins then so hopefully I get some good results.

Today's weight 226
BMI 40.04 (so close to my first goal of being under 40 bmi).

Here are some pictures I took at the gym on 12/31. They are not the best quality but it is hard to find someone else to take pics of me all the time :)
